FDA Expands Recalls 32 Blood Pressure Drugs Linked to Cancer

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has been expanded drugs that are using for blood pressure because these drugs are contaminated with the chemicals linked to cancer.

MAceeods pharmaceutical recalling 32 lots of losartan. The manufacturer notifies all the pharmacies to stop all the further distribution. 

Losartan is a generic angiotensin II receptor blocker that is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure.

Over the last year batches of generic angiotensin II receptor blocker have been withdrawn from the market due to chemical nitrosamines, which linked to increased risk of certain cancer.

FDA said patients who are taking Losartan Potassium/Hydrochlorothiazide and Losartan Potassium Tablets combination tablet should continue to do so and contact their doctor, medical provider or pharmacist alternative treatment.
